The exact origin history of wedding ring is unknown, according to some historians, the engagement ring was invented by Egyptians and the tradition was adopted by Ancient Greeks.  The Egyptians who believed circles were symbols of eternity.  By exchanging rings, it symbolizes endless love between a man and woman.

The Egyptians use to wear the ring in the left hand of the ring finger.  They believed that this finger held a “special vein” that directly connects to the heart.  This vein was also known as “vein of love.”  Later, this concept was adopted by many other cultures to put the ring in ring finger for engagements and for weddings.

There was a tradition in the Middle East, that a man should give his wife a ring known as a “puzzle ring.”  This puzzle ring is a piece of jewelry with several complex rings. If it is worn in a correct manner and if together they form a cohesive band, then it is meant that she had been faithful.  If she was unable to solve the puzzle or if a woman took off her ring, then she is unfaithful and she would not be able to put back her ring again.
